Oil on wood. Over the course of 5 weeks, I created a continuously changing painting. The first week (first picture shown) I created a pattern on the wood in purples and greens. The following week (second and third pictures shown) we were to move to another students painting and change what they had started. There I created an abstract sea that slowly showed more geometric shapes from the previous week. Going back to my original painting after (fourth picture) another student added brighter colors of flowers and swirls. To add to this, I added more paint to the top of my canvas and with a pallet knife scrapped down the wood to melt the colors down. The womanly figure was added on top of the scrapped down paint, swirls, and flowers to create more of a focus point in the center while still remaining abstract (fifth picture). Lastly I added another womanly figure but only from about the bust up in white paint to compete against the darker colors behind it. Within the white, you can still see reds and greens popping through.
